For years, your joints have enabled you to lift heavy objects, play sports, walk, climb stairs, talk, and eat.. Over time, though, all that daily exertion causes wear and tear on your joints. No wonder they sometimes feel stiff and sore.
The three common causes of joint pain are bursitis, tendinitis, and the variety of conditions commonly called arthritis.
Bursitis and tendinitis are inflammations of the soft tissue around the joints and often are given colorful names such as "tennis elbow" or "housemaid's knee." Any joint, in fact, can become inflamed as a result of frequent repetitive movement of it, such as when you swing a tennis racket, or even use a computer keyboard. Bursitis and tendinitis rarely do lasting damage to the joint.
The first treatment is usually aspirin or a similar anti-inflammatory drug. Other ways to help treat the problem and prevent repeat attacks include:
? resting the joint
? applying heat for chronic problems
? applying cold for acute problems
? gentle active or passive exercises that strengthen and increase the flex- ibility of the muscles that support the joint.
Osteoarthritis (also called degenerative arthritis), in contrast, is a chronic permanent condition that may strike any joint. It may result from a genetic tendency, combined with a lifetime of repetitive, prolonged wear and tearon the joints. Sixty percent of people age 65 and older have some form of osteoarthritis with pain and signs of arthritic changes in their joints.
If you suffer from chronic arthritis, you may think taking it easy is best for your troubled joints. Quite the opposite may be true. The movement you are avoiding may actually help alleviate arthritis pain. While traditional treatment for osteoarthritis is rest during acute flareups of swelling and pain. Many physicians and scientists now believe that muscle strength and flexibility - maintained and gained through exercise - are essential in reducing symptoms of arthritis and may even help prevent its onset.
Because people tend to avoid using painful joints, the muscles around the joint weaken. And other muscles, used to compensate, become more vulnerable to overuse. Arthritis exercise programs are designed to help reduce pain, help control body weight, preserve joint mobility, and increase overall well-being. It just may be that a walk around the block or a swim might help provide some relief for lower-body or spinal degenerative arthritis.
Easing the Discomfort
There are, of course, other treatments for joint conditions, ranging from non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to steroid injections and even total joint replacement (which should only be considered as the last resort and not necessarily an inevitable one).
Lately there have been a lot of advertisement about a new drug for arthritis. It costs over $100.00 per month.
The drug doesn't cure arthritis but if taken along with drugs that suppress the immune system it can alleviate some of the pain and discomfort of the arthritis. I won't take time to discuss the many and varied side affects of this new drug but let it suffice they are many. The family of arthrosis or joint diseases like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and other similar type diseases, effect some three out of every five adults in the United States. The number of young people getting juvenille arthritis is on the increase. These diseases cause a lot of discomfort and pain. They cripple many people each year.
Research has spent many billions of dollars on studying the causes and looking for a cure of these arthritic diseases. To date however medical science knows a lot about the disease but very little about treatments and don't seem to be any closer to a cure. The nagging aches and the stiffness of joints make arthritic type diseases very discouraging and very debilitating. This disease cheats many young and especially older people out of doing those things in life that they enjoy and desire to accomplish.
Take heart! There is no need to suffer from the pains etc. of arthritis. The answer to arthritis has been around since 1949, the year Dr. Ana Aslan, a Romanian cardiologist, decided to treat arthritis with procaine hydrochloride injections. She found, as did a number of scientists before her, that the procaine hydrochloride alleviated the pain and over a period of time would get rid of the problems associated with the disease. She improved on the straight procaine hydrochloride by adding other ingredients that prolonged the life of the procaine in the bloodstream. This new product she named Gerovital H3 commonly referred to as GH-3. GH-3 has been helping people with arthritis since the early 1950's. In 1981 Dr. Robert Koch became interested in the wonderful results that people were receiving from GH-3. He started research on the use of procaine hydrochloride to find out why it was able to help in so many different diseases. He developed and patented a series of complexes of procaine (double salts). These new complexes of procaine he called PBN's (procaine based nutriments). These discoveries led to the development of Vitacel 7 (GH-7) and Vitacel 8 (GH-8). The Vitacels, start with Vitacel 3, which is the first development of Dr. Koch, a tablet form of the original formula of Dr. Ana Aslan, containing the same GH-3 factors as the Aslan injectable. Vitacel 3 provides many benefits to those suffering from the various -itisis as well as many other ailments.
Then came the development of Vitacel 7 (GH-7) and Vitacel 8 (GH-8). These products provide faster and greater relief from the -itisis than did theVitacel 3 ( GH-3).
The procaine complexes (PBN's) help the damaged cells repair the damage that causes the inflamation. When cells in the joint areas of the body become damaged through mechanical damage, disease, lack of exercise or poor nutrition the damaged cells are destroyed and removed by the immune system. If the remaining cells are unable to repair the damage then the result is inflamation and loss of synovial fluids that lubricate the joint. Calcium deposits causing deformities such as enlarged finger joints etc. Flexibility and motion is impaired. The Vitacels help the damaged cells improve feeding and elimination of toxins. These cells when functioning with greater efficiency are able to repair the damage to the joints. This process can be helped by providing good raw materials for the cells. Those suffering from arthritis can help the Vitacel by incorporating flax seed oil or ground up flax seeds into their diet. (take the ground flax seeds with plenty of fluid)The Omega 3 oils from the flax seed are very valuable. Also for osteoarthritis the healing process can be accelerated by taking Glucosamine hydrochloride and Chondroitin Sulfate (Vita Joint). Also antioxidants such as grape seed extract, vitamin E. Vitamin C and Gingko Biloba extract are very helpful.

Building Muscles Is Strong Medicine
The best way to keep Father Time or Mother Nature from stealing your skeletal muscles is to exercise regularly Without regular strength-promoting exercise, the average adult loses about one-half pound of muscle every year after the age of 25, while gaining fat weight. Low-intensity workouts are an excellent way to tone muscle and derive numerous health benefits.
Benefit #1: Muscle is the body's major fat burner. Not only does it primarily burn calories while being exercised, it continues to consume a small additional amount of calories for several hours after a workout while recuperating and rebuilding.
Benefit #2: For older folks, stronger muscles are linked to better balance and reduced risk of injury from falling.

Don't think you can fit an endurance exercise routine into your busy schedule? If you cannot exercise for 30 minutes straight, then try breaking it up into small segments. You also only need to do strength training two to three times a week to increase muscle mass and strength.
